Preface

Ministry of Defence Virtual (MODv) complies with the General Data Protection Regulation (2018) and with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA). The European Union does not have an independent law that addresses the protection of children’s data; it addresses the protection of children’s data throughout its General Data Protection Regulation by indicating which provisions within the GDPR warrant a higher standard to protect children’s data.

Purpose of the Policy

This policy has been put in place to achieve the following aims:

We collect information from you when you join our VA, fill out a form, or submit any external information through a third-party application (i.e. submitting a Pilot log). All visitors to our website, https://modvirtual.co.uk/, will visit anonymously. When joining as a pilot, you will be added to our management system. By joining MODv and using our services, you are giving MODv permission to collect personal data that will only be used by MODv and not shared externally. MODv uses your data for the purpose of conducting services offered by MODv such as but not limited to the participation as a MODv pilot, pilot certifications, waiting lists, applications, pilot advancements, access to Aircraft, scenery, and awards offered by MODv.

Data Retention

MODv may retain the data collection which pertains to the user for up to 6 months following the termination of said user’s involvement with MODv. Termination can occur via request by a member to staff, or by forceful termination by the board as a result of failure to comply with the rules set out within the Operations Manual.

All users are also reminded of their right to be forgotten whereby an email to info@modvirtual.co.uk with such a request will result in all data for the user being deleted upon receipt.

Storage of Data

We do not and never sell, trade, or otherwise transfer to outside parties any of your personally identifiable information. We may release your information when we believe release is appropriate to comply with the law, enforce site policies, or protect ours or others rights, property, or safety. We will be transparent about our practices, so that you can make meaningful choices about how your personal information is used. If we make a material change, we will provide prominent notice by posting a notice on our service on this website page and we will notify you through the MODv Discord server.

Data Controller

User data collected by MODv is managed by the MODv operations team. We implement a variety of security measures to maintain the safety of our personal information. Please note that we cannot guarantee that any data transmission over the internet is completely secure. If we decide to change our privacy policy, an announcement will be promptly made on the MODv Discord server.
